The Summer I Was Thirteen

The cool breeze fly’s through the open window
Loud music blares through my headphones
We’re off to a land every kid dreams of going
Making a few brief stops on the way
First, off to an African safari
Seeing the most exotic animals you could ever dream
Next, a ski lift taking us into the mysterious mountain in Tennessee
On top of which was brightly colored neon streamers
Hiding the most carnival I have ever seen
And last, a Technicolor laser show spread across the mountains in Georgia
A fantastic mixture of blue, green, and red dance through the sky
Lighting up everything in its path
Showing pictures from western cowboys riding their majestic horses
To the American flag blowing gracefully in the wind
Finally the arrival, and standing in front of me is a statue of Walt.
Behind him opening a world like no other
The smells of buttered popcorn and sweet cotton candy fill the air
Kids running frantically up to see their favorite character
With angelic smiles plastered across their faces
I was in a land where when you wish upon a star
All your dreams come true
